3 Things I Like About the Academy of Sciences

Hi all,

Here's what I like about the field trip we had last Friday.

I particularly like the Philippine Coral exhibit, because there are so many varieties of fish and other aquatic life in that region. And since it is also my home country I am proud to know that the local goverment and people living near those areas are making a big effort in preserving this precious environment.

The second one would be about how ecologically efficient the whole building is. Like from the sign where they re-use the water for their toilets and lawns, and the "living roof" where it collects the rainwater.

Last one is definitely the Planetarium. The whole experience felt very existential, and I am reminded by a quote which said, "We are but a tiny speck in the universe." And while there are up and coming discoveries on new planets and galaxies that humans could possibly inhabit, that doesn't change the fact that we have this one place that we have to take care of and not take it for granted.

  1. Dorothy, I really enjoyed walking around the Philippine Coral Exhibit with you. Thank you for shedding light/teaching me about the fishing industry in the Philippines. --by far, one of my favorite memories for the day.
